Caplan Cobb Settles Class Action Brought Under the FCRA for $100 million
Yesterday, Caplan Cobb filed a motion seeking judicial approval of a $100 million class-action settlement in a series of cases brought under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”) against Equifax. If approved by the court, this will be the largest FCRA class-action settlement in the statute’s more than 50-year history. The cases alleged that in 2022, Equifax's systems experienced a coding error that caused inaccurate credit reports for millions of consumers to be sent to lenders and others. Working with three other law firms from around the country, Caplan Cobb litigated the cases for more than four years before the parties reached a resolution. If the settlement is approved by the Court, approximately four million class members will receive significant monetary relief.
