Cameron Roberts is a partner at Caplan Cobb, where he represents companies, officers and directors, governments, and individuals in a wide array of trial and appellate matters. His practice spans all manner of business litigation, including disputes involving alleged breaches of contract and of fiduciary duties, fraud, and statutory violations. Cameron is also deeply involved in constitutional and public-interest litigation.

Business Litigation

Cameron handles all manner of business disputes. His recent experience includes disputes over the redemption of membership interests, squeeze-outs, antitrust claims, the failure to transfer stock, and alleged violations of non-compete and non-solicitation agreements.

Appeals

Cameron also represents clients in appeals before federal and state appellate courts. His work has resulted in the affirmance of awards exceeding $70 million and the reversal of many adverse decisions. Cameron also regularly files amicus curiae briefs on behalf of public-interest organizations and professors in appellate courts.

Constitutional and Public-Interest Litigation

Cameron is committed to constitutional and public-interest litigation. He has overturned an order obtained in violation of due process, reversed a judgment that violated the First Amendment, secured an injunction to protect First Amendment rights, and obtained an injunction preventing the execution of ten prisoners. Cameron also represents exonerees filing claims under the Wrongful Conviction and Incarceration Compensation Act.

Case Experience

Business Litigation

  • Secured the transfer of more than $20 million in public company stock as a result of the defendant’s breach of an agreement requiring transfer of the stock to his former spouse.
  • Defended members of the Georgia Board of Dentistry from antitrust claims.
  • After imposition of a $20 million default judgment, appeared on the defendants’ behalf, moved to set aside the default judgment, and obtained a favorable settlement that involved no payment by the defendants.

Appeals

  • Obtained the vacatur of a $1.5 million judgment against an OB-GYN on the ground that an OB-GYN could not be liable for a nuisance created by third parties protesting his practice.
  • Obtained the vacatur of a receivership and preliminary injunction imposed on the owner of an apartment complex based on due process violations and because the nuisance statute did not authorize a receivership. 
  • Secured the affirmance of more than $70 million in awards to victims of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Constitutional and Public-Interest Litigation

  • On behalf of the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Georgia, obtained interlocutory and permanent injunctions preventing the execution of ten prisoners. 
  • On behalf of a property owner, obtained a preliminary and permanent injunction against a city that unconstitutionally restricted the occupancy of a building.
  • Represents claimants under the Wrongful Conviction and Incarceration Compensation Act.
