Alan Long is an associate at Caplan Cobb, specializing in complex litigation. He represents a diverse array of clients, including individuals, shareholders, and both publicly-traded and private companies, across trial and appellate courts, as well as in arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and pre-litigation counseling.

Prior to joining Caplan Cobb, Alan served as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard W. Story of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. He also gained valuable experience practicing at Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP, where he honed his litigation skills.

Alan holds a J.D., magna cum laude, from Georgia State University College of Law, where he was honored as a member of the Order of the Coif and served as Lead Research Editor for the Georgia State Law Review. He also earned a B.S., cum laude, from the University of West Georgia.

Business Litigation & Counseling

Alan litigates complex commercial disputes for a wide range of clients, including individuals, shareholders, privately-held companies, and Fortune-ranked corporations. His experience spans breaches of contract, fiduciary duties, fraud, and other business torts. Alan also advises clients on federal and state statutes such as RICO, and has secured favorable outcomes in matters involving corporate governance, managed care litigation, real estate disputes, consumer protection claims, and post-judgment collections.

Appeals

Alan is skilled in appellate advocacy, having briefed and assisted clients in appeals before federal circuit courts, state intermediary and high courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court, securing pivotal affirmances and reversals for his clients.

Constitutional & Tort Litigation

Alan has been part of a dedicated pro bono team that challenged statutory provisions on constitutional grounds. His work was instrumental in securing habeas relief for a client wrongfully convicted of murder, leading to the client's exoneration and release after serving over 20 years in prison.
